Town of Urne

Urne is a desolate, sprawling town shrouded in perpetual twilight, where thick smoke billows from charred ruins and the flickering glow of distant fires illuminates the darkness. The sky above is a swirling mass of ash clouds, casting a pall over everything. Jagged blackened spires and crumbling stone structures dominate the landscape, many half-buried in ash and rubble. Narrow, winding streets are lined with twisted, burned-out remnants of what once might have been thriving life, now twisted into grotesque shapes.

The air is heavy with the scent of burnt flesh, sulfur, and despair. Fires burn ceaselessly in infernal forges and pit-like caverns, casting flickering shadows on the faces of fallen angels, demons, and spirits wandering aimlessly or congregating in dark corners.

Long ago, Urne was a celestial city of radiant angels, a beacon of hope and divine harmony. It was a place where the divine and mortal realms intersected, a hub of enlightenment and celestial power. However, a great cosmic rebellion – known as The Fall of the Light – shattered this harmony.

A faction of angels, envious of mortals’ free will and tempted by forbidden knowledge, rebelled against the divine order. Their rebellion was crushed, but not before the divine wrath cast them and their followers into a shadowy realm – a twisted mirror of the celestial city, transformed by fire, ash, and despair.

In their exile, the angels and demons, along with the spirits of the deceased who perished in the chaos, became trapped in their infernal purgatory. Over eons, the realm warped into a hellish wasteland, a place of torment and decay. Fires perpetually burn to purify or corrupt – depending on who wields them – and the land itself seems alive with malevolent energy.

Urne serves as both a prison and a battleground. Fallen angels seek redemption or revenge. Demons vie for dominance and influence over lost spirits. The spirits of the deceased are caught in an endless cycle of torment, some seeking release, others reveling in the chaos.

Legend has it that the true origin of Urne is tied to an ancient cosmic war, and that buried beneath its ruins lie powerful artifacts – remnants of divine or infernal power – that could tip the balance toward salvation or utter destruction.

Urne is a town of perpetual struggle – against the environment, the supernatural, internal despair, and external power struggles – making it a nightmare realm where hope is scarce, and chaos reigns supreme.
